A story of a young owl – Soren, enchanted by his father's epic stories of the Guardians of Ga' Hoole, a mythic group of winged fighters who had fought a great clash to save all of owlkind from the evil Pure Ones. While Soren dreams of one day joining his heroes, Kludd, his older brother, taunts at the notion, and desires to hunt, fly and steal his father's errand from his younger sibling. But Kludd's jealousy has horrible consequences - causing both owlets to fall from their treetop quarter and right into the talons of the Pure Ones. Now it is up to Soren to make a brave escape with the aid of other brave young owls. Together they ascend across the sea and through the haze to look for the Great Tree, habitat of the legendary Guardians--Soren's only hope of beating the Pure Ones and saving the owl kingdoms.
